Getting around Jaipur
How to get around Jaipur from Milap Nagar: when to book a car with driver, how autos and app cabs work, and where the metro does and doesn't go.
Some pictures are illustrations. The real places may look a little different.
The short version
From our home
We're in Milap Nagar, south of the city centre and about 6 km from the airport. The forts are to the north, the walled city is in the middle, and Tonk Road runs past us towards Chokhi Dhani.
A car with driver
For Amber, Jaigarh and Nahargarh, a car with a driver is the easy choice. The forts are spread out on hills, Nahargarh has no public transport, and the driver waits while you explore. We can book one for half a day or a full day.
Autos and app cabs
Auto rickshaws are everywhere. Agree the fare before you get in, or book through an app. Uber works across the city and at the airport, and other ride apps operate here too.
The metro
Jaipur's Pink Line runs from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar in the walled city, through Sindhi Camp and Chandpole. It's handy for the old city from the west, but it doesn't come near us or the airport.
E-rickshaws
E-rickshaws work within set zones, including in the walled city. They're good for short hops between bazaars, not for crossing town.
