The fort that watches the city
Sawai Jai Singh II built Nahargarh in 1734 on the edge of the Aravalli ridge, as a lookout over his new capital. Today people come for the view. From the walls you can see the whole walled city laid out below you.
Madhavendra Bhawan
Much later, Sawai Madho Singh II added a palace of matching suites for his queens, joined by long painted corridors. Walk through slowly. The frescoes are faded, and lovely for it.
Getting up and back
The road climbs a narrow ridge and there's no public transport to the top, so go with a driver who waits. Stay for sunset, as the lights come on across the city.
What to see

Madhavendra Bhawan
Suites for the queens around open courtyards, linked by corridors of faded floral frescoes.
The ramparts at sunset
Find your spot on the walls before the sun goes down. Enjoy the view, and stay off the parapets.
Jaipur Wax Museum
A modern museum inside the fort with its own mirrored Sheesh Mahal, on a separate ticket. Not the historic one at Amber.
