Rajasthan in one evening
Chokhi Dhani is a recreated Rajasthani village on Tonk Road, south of us, that comes alive after dark. Lanterns light mud-walled lanes where folk dancers, puppeteers and musicians perform as you wander. It's busy, noisy and colourful, and families tend to love it.
Dinner
Your ticket comes with dinner. The traditional choice is a Rajasthani thali, brought round by servers who keep refilling it until you say stop, so go hungry.
Getting there
It's a short drive south along Tonk Road from our home. Go after five, give it three or four hours, and book your car back before you leave.
What to see

Folk dance and music
Ghoomar and other Rajasthani dances, with musicians playing through the evening.
Puppet shows
Kathputli, Rajasthan's string puppets, in the lanes of the village.
Camel and bullock-cart rides
