Hot air balloon ride
A sunrise hot air balloon flight over the villages and hills outside Jaipur: the flying season, what the morning involves, and what to wear.
Some pictures are illustrations. The real places may look a little different.
Why go
- Time needed
- 3.5–4 hours with transfers
- Best time
- Sunrise, Sept to April

Up before the sun
Balloons fly in the still air just after sunrise, so the day starts in the dark. The operator collects you, drives you to the launch site and briefs you while the balloon fills. You're in the air for about an hour, drifting wherever the wind decides.
When they fly
SkyWaltz, which flies balloons around Jaipur, runs its season from 1 September to 30 April. There are no flights from May to August, and any flight can be called off that morning if the wind isn't right. Keep the next morning free in case you need to rebook.
Who it suits
You'll stand in the basket for the whole flight. The operator asks about pregnancy, recent surgery and injuries before booking, so tell them, or us, about anything that might matter.
